The Carleton University Academic Staff Association is the certified trade union representing approximately 850 faculty, professional librarians and Instructor employees at Carleton University. The primary purposes of the Association are to promote the well-being of the academic commuity, to defend academic freedom and to promote the individual interests of its members, as well as to maintain the quality and integrity of the University as an academic institution.
In addition to being the union for its members, the Association provides various other services designed to support them in all aspects of your working life from their candidacy for academic positions through to retirement.
All faculty, professional librarians and Instructor employees working at Carleton must be in the bargaining unit and are required to pay dues. Joining the Association, the organization that oversees the union, is voluntary and free. We encourage all members of the union to become members of the Association.
